The Geothermal Park

This hot spring area in Hveragerði is located in the middle of the town and is one of the most remarkable natural pearls of the South. Hveragerði is on the eastern edge of the volcanic belt that runs from Reykjanes through Þingvellir and north of Langjökull glacier, and the hot spring area lies across this volcanic belt. A visitor centre is located on-site to obtain information about geothermal energy, microbiology, geology, and volcanic activity. In addition, it explains how the utilization of geothermal energy takes place, the depth of the main borehole, and how power is obtained and utilized. Guests can experience the benefits of healing clay while enjoying a mud bath for hands and feet in the summer and can also enjoy a slice of the delicious Hot Springs Bread baked in the geothermal steam and boil eggs in the hot springs.
