Exhibits of contemporary and traditional Icelandic art


Listasafn Árnesinga Art Museum features a collection of contemporary and traditional Icelandic art, as well as rotating exhibits that showcase the work of local and regional artists. The museum is housed in a former school building and features several exhibition spaces spread over two floors. The first floor showcases the permanent collection of the museum, which includes works by Icelandic artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Ásmundur Sveinsson, Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval, and Nína Tryggvadóttir. The second-floor features rotating exhibits that change throughout the year and feature a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, and photography. The museum also hosts special events and workshops related to art and culture. Listasafn Árnesinga is a great place to visit for those interested in Icelandic art and culture. The museum is open year-round, and admission is free of charge.
