"You are the trigger"

In the exhibition "You are the trigger", Ingunn Fjóla explores the tension between anger and chaos in a theatrical way. The installation is primarily painterly, given that a system of patterns can be seen as a painterly phenomenon. The visitor's experience is part of the work's all-encompassing system; a system that visitors are affected by when they travel through the space and react to the cues that Ingunn Fjóla has built into the work. It is expected that the installation is moved, but how this movement is carried out raises questions about the relationship between the disturbance and the visual structure of the work.

Ingan Fjóla's previous works have mostly been paintings and installations. By using different materials, which unpredictably challenge the audience's aesthetic experience and the way they perceive the exhibition space, she merges preconceived information that the eye perceives with an ideology that speaks to the tangibility of the body. The viewer participates in an abstract narrative that is created from various surfaces and perspectives. The painted surfaces in Ingunn Fjóla's work point in various directions – sometimes they remind of a partition or a catwalk, but at other times of a sign, stage or screen.
