Hengill Ultra 2024
The Salomon Hengill Ultra Trail will be held for the 13th time on the 7th and 8th of June 2024. On this spectacular running route, there were over 1300 participants who took part in the last race, making the Hengill Ultra the biggest off-road race in Iceland.

This year, a variety of running routes will be offered; 5km, 10km, 26km, 53km and 106km. There are also great fun midnight versions of the 10km, 26km and 53km distances. In the midnight races there are only 100 registrations for the 26km and 53km and 200 for the 10km.
The starting point for all distances and the race control will be in the center of Hveragerði. The shorter distances are around Hveragerði and up to Hamrin, which is an enormously beautiful lava hammer above the town. The 25km distance is up Reykjadalin to Ölkelduhnjúk and around it. 50km runners, on the other hand, run on to Hengli, across the mountain range, down Slegjubeinsskarð and from there back. Those who run 106km go that way twice. The view from Hengli is absolutely unique and this running route is one of the most beautiful you can find in Iceland.
While Hengill Ultra is running, Hveragerði turns into a running carnival with a sales exhibition in the sports hall. There will also be all track meetings for each distance separately, along with the award ceremony. Hveragerði all shines and has plenty to offer visitors.
