Hveragerði is a town in southern Iceland known for its scenic surroundings and diverse recreation options for people of all ages. You can choose from hiking and biking trails, golfing, fishing, swimming, or mountain climbing, to name a few.

Hike or cycle in Reykjadalur

The hot river valley - Reykjadalur - is located in a geothermal area at the foot of the Hengill volcanic mountain range. This area offers a variety of outdoor activities, whether people want to walk, run, or cycle in the fantastic nature. Simmering hot springs and steam plumes leave an impression on the area, and the unique hot river - Reykjadalsá - flows down Reykjadalur, where it is popular to bathe before trekking back down.

Walking trails in Hveragerði

Hveragerði is an excellent destination for hiking enthusiasts, with plenty of scenic trails to explore in the immediate vicinity. There are hiking trails for all levels of hikers, from easy strolls to challenging summit hikes and leisurely health walks.

Fishing or golf? 

Golfing and fishing enthusiasts will find something to their liking in Hveragerði. Varmá is one of the most enjoyable fishing rivers in the country and is popular amongst salmon fishermen who come year after year to fish there. The golf course in Hveragerði is in beautiful nature in Gufudal above the town—one of Iceland's most fun and popular 9-hole courses.
